What is NuvaRing
?
(etongestrel/ethinylestradiol)

NuvaRing is a thin and flexible,
transparent vaginal ring
NuvaRing is a thin ring that fits inside the vagina and releases low doses of progestogen and estrogen. These two hormones are commonly used together to prevent pregnancy and are found in other methods of combined hormonal contraception.
NuvaRing is made from a synthetic and nonbiodegradable material known as ethylene vinyl acetate, which is flexible. The size of the ring is about 54mm in diameter and the width of the ring is just 4 mm.
The vaginal delivery system allows low daily doses of the progestogen etonogestrel (120 micrograms) and the estrogen ethinylestradiol (15 micrograms) to be slowly released over the course of 3 weeks while the ring is in place. After this time the ring needs to be removed, a 1-week ring free interval follows before another ring needs to be inserted. Each NuvaRing is designed for one use only.
Please note that you should consult your doctor or another suitably trained healthcare provider when considering what type of contraception is most appropriate for you.
If you have already been prescribed NuvaRing by your healthcare provider, you can find out more about how to use NuvaRing and sign up for a free SMS text messaging reminder service by clicking here.
