How effective is NuvaRing
?
(etongestrel/ethinylestradiol)
The efficacy of NuvaRing has been established in women aged between 18 and 40 years. When used correctly (see Using NuvaRing), NuvaRing prevents pregnancy in >99% of cases.
NuvaRing releases 15 micrograms of estrogen per day. Most commonly used low-dose oral contraceptives provide a daily dose of 20 or 30 micrograms of estrogen. The lower hormone dose provided by NuvaRing does not compromise the vaginal ring’s overall ability to prevent pregnancy.
