Are there any side effects?
Like all medicines, NuvaRing
(etongestrel/ethinylestradiol) can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common* side effects reported by users of NuvaRing include:
- Abdominal pain, feeling sick (nausea)
- Infection of the vagina (such as ‘thrush’); discomfort in the vagina due to the presence of the ring; genital itching; vaginal discharge
- Headache or migraine; depressive moods; lower sex drive
- Breast pain; painful menstrual periods
- Acne
- Weight gain
- The ring falling out
*Defined as affecting more than one in 100, but less than one in 10 women
