Efficacy of NuvaRing
The efficacy of NuvaRing has been established in women aged between 18 and 40 years.1 When used as directed, NuvaRing is more than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. This high rate of contraceptive efficacy is comparable to the use of combined oral contraceptives (COCs).1,3,4
In clinical trials, NuvaRing has been shown to have a low Pearl Index (see Table below) that is similar to COCs.1,3,4 The Pearl Index is a measure of the number of pregnancies that occur for every 100 women years of use, with lower numbers indicating fewer pregnancies.
